IGHR 2025 Virtual Institute

Course 8 - For Land’s Sake! Advanced Analysis and Platting

A practicum-based course teaching metes and bounds land platting. The week begins with background, skills, pencil and paper platting, and moves rapidly to computer platting. Students are required to arrive with DeedMapper platting software (www.directlinesoftware.com) installed on a laptop or desktop computer. No experience using the software is necessary. Students must know how to store and manage files on their computer. Practicums span a variety of skills, geographies, technologies, and problems frequently seen in land platting. Students choose from an available set of practicum problems and leave with solutions for all the problems. Students may bring their own platting problems for work and discussion.
